People sometimes have to compromise or fall into despair due to unfavorable reality or hardship. Or one cannot see what’s important because one is no there. Whenever I feel the same way, I try to remind Invictus, the short Victorian poem, by the English poet William Ernest Henley but it is hard to remind when stressful.
This project is a space in my imagination that is built with mirror as a plane. The text in the mirror is reflected each side and creates three-dimensional shapes.
The shapes represent how one perceives the message of the poem and reacts. This space captures the people in this society -- inable to escape from the truth and reality but just lean on the things that are inspirational or giving comfort at times when they need.
